Upskilling professionals with AADPA
According to our recent survey, only around 30 per cent of people think their GP understands ADHD!
So in March of this year, we hosted two international ADHD experts from the Australian ADHD Professionals Association (AADPA) to upskill the professionals (such as GPs, psychologists, and psychiatrists) who support our ADHD community. Professors Mark Bellgrove and Dave Coghill had a jam-packed three-day visit meeting with MPs, government officials from the health agencies, representatives from the colleges for GPs, psychiatrists and psychologists. They presented their newly-launched guidelines to over 300 representatives online and at in-person events in Auckland and Wellington. We were blown away by the level of interest – which showed the need for more ADHD-specific training – something we are pushing for in our meetings with the government and the colleges. |
