Help us run ADHD NZ basketball in Wellington

Following the success of our basketball sessions in Auckland, we're looking for volunteers to help us set up and manage basketball for children with ADHD and ASD in Wellington.

We have a wide range of ages (from 4 years to about 16 years) attend, and everyone has fun developing their basketball skills, as well as social skills, in a safe and supportive environment.

We'd be looking to provide two sessions, which would each run for one hour every week during the school term:

Emerging Skills: This session is for kids who are new, or relatively new, to basketball and will focus on developing basketball skills as well as social and listening skills.

Advanced Skills: This session is for kids who have played basketball before and are more skilled on the court. This session includes warm-up, running through some basketball skills as well as other activities (which change from week to week) and finish off with a basketball game involving the kids and coaches.

What you'll get:
  • on-going support with the provision of a location
  • advertising for participants
  • organising of payments, and
  • other administration.

By helping us with your:
  • previous experience with basketball
  • solid understanding of the game
  • ability to motivate players
  • good leadership skills
  • attention to detail, and
  • excellent memory and concentration skills.

In each basketball session you'll:
  • teach players the rules of the game
  • study the skills and abilities of the players to maximize performance
  • devise play strategies to ensure maximum participation, and
  • provide mentorship.

You may have already coached junior basketball. We're also looking for people who are:
  • empathetic
  • friendly
  • understanding, and
  • have a genuine desire to help.

If you're interested we'd love to hear from you!!!
I'm keen
