Who is ADHD New Zealand?
Formed in 1979, we are the largest and longest-standing non-profit organisation committed to supporting those living with ADHD in New Zealand. Our community of 50,000+ includes organisations that provide expert help and support.
What we do
ADHD New Zealand connects people and organisations. We enable our community to collaborate on ways to successfully live with ADHD, providing spaces for people to support each other, sharing stories and encouraging people to succeed through learning events.

Our values:
- Navigating: We will help our community navigate their lives successfully

- Strong and enduring: We will be underpinned by strong foundations
- Digital: We will build scale and reach through digital platforms
- Partnerships: Strong, enduring partnerships will ensure a quality delivery
Our karakia
ADHD New Zealand's karakia was developed with the aid of our Lived Experience Advisory Panel (LEAP). 'Aroreretini' is the te reo Māōri word for ADHD. It translates to "attention goes to many things" and was created by linguist and author Keri Opai. You can find more about it here: Words have great power
Karakia timatanga (opening karakia)
Mā te huritao ka tūhura
Mā te manawanui ka tutuki
Ka tiaki matou mo to matou tangata ki te aroreretini
Hui e! Tāiki e!
-
May we discover through reflection
May we deliver through our dedication
May we care for our community with aroreretini
United forward together
Karakia Whakamutanga (closing karakia)
Unuhia te wānanga, te hui
Paiheretia ki te tāhuhu o tō tātou whare korero
Ūhia mai ko te rongomau
Hui e! Tāiki e!

Our gathering has finished for the time being
Bonded by our common goals we have shared knowledge and listened to one another
Let’s support and take care of each other
United, as one!
Our people
Our team is mostly made up of volunteers who offer multiple skills. They provide governance, links to support and information, manage projects, events and communications to our 50,000 plus-strong community. You can find out more about them here:

Our name (clarification)
Our registered charity name is ADHD Association Incorporated. However, we are generally known as ADHD New Zealand. We acknowledge that our name is similar to other organisations, which can be confusing. We are not connected with the ADHD Foundation of Aotearoa.
