Subject: Brand change for Dexamfetamine sulfate 5mg
Kia ora,
As a result of a tender brand change, Noumed’s brand of dexamfetamine sulfate 5 mg tablets have been awarded Principal Supplier Status. Noumed’s dexamfetamine brand will be listed on the Pharmaceutical Schedule from 1 January 2024. Aspen’s dexamfetamine brand (Pharmacode 2642298) will be delisted on the Pharmaceutical Schedule from 1 May 2024.
The Noumed brand has the same active ingredient and strength as the Aspen brand of dexamfetamine.
Noumed took over sponsorship of all API products after their exit from the market in 2022. The Noumed product is therefore the same as the dexamfetamine product previously supplied as API’s PSM brand.
What does this mean for people taking dexamfetamine?
We acknowledge that a brand change for this medicine may be stressful for some people. Our clinical experts have advised that the Noumed brand is a suitable clinical alternative. The Noumed brand has the same active ingredient and strength as the Aspen product. The packaging and tablets however look different.
