Whangarei is the cultural and commercial heart of Northland with an urban population of approximately 40,000.
Whangarei nestles at the foot of forest clad hills and faces onto an extensive and picturesque harbour. The district (population total 63,000) extends from Waipu Cove in the south to Bland Bay in the north.
